Mrs. Mildred Rebecca Berry Chapman, 89, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2017. She was born August 24, 1928 in Norcross, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Winfred Cyrel Berry and the late Mrs. Tommie Watson Ross. She served as the first Head Nurse at the Muscogee County Consolidated Jail. She retired from Columbus Consolidated Government Clinical Department, after a long career in nursing. She was a member of the Midway United Methodist Church of Douglasville. She was a member of the Skint Chestnut Garden Club in the Dogwood District of the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Lawson and a brother, W.R. Berry. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Linda Moore of Greensboro, NC; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Eddie Wallace of Bartlesville, OK; two grandchildren and their spouses, Brannen and Vanessa Wallace and Chris and Catherine Moore; three great-grandchildren, Lexi Wallace, Logan Moore, and Mason Moore; five special friends, Debi Coffey, Jenny Hardwood, Suzette Vastine, Paul Senft, and Robert Locke; and a loving church family and caring neighbors. The family will receive friends at Midway United Methodist Church in Douglasville, Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Midway United Methodist Church in Douglasville, Georgia with Rev. Francisco Artley and Rev. Frank Boone officiating. In accordance with her wishes she was cremated and her urn will be placed in the family lot of Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Tucker at a later date.
