Mildred Wilson

Mrs. Mildred “Millie” Wilson, age 94, of Villa Rica, GA passed away on August 24, 2019. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 11, 1924. Mrs. Wilson attended Girl Commerce High School in Brooklyn, New York and learned to sew, knit, crochet and design clothes. In 1941 Mildred married Bob Wilson and they remained married until her passing. While her husband was away fighting for his country during World War II and later the Korean War, she was tasked with raising three young boys. In 1952 they moved from Brooklyn to Queens, New York where they lived until their boys finished High School and moved out on their own. In 1968 Mildred and Bob moved to St Thomas in the Virgin Islands. They lived there for 16 years, and that is where she learned to play golf. In 1986 they moved to Fairfield Plantation in Villa Rica, Georgia. By this time Mildred had won many, many trophies and awards for golf. She could always be found playing on the golf course. Mildred would say there’s nothing better than playing golf with your grandkids. She is survived by her husband of 78 years Robert “Bob” Wilson of Villa Rica; two sons, Jim Wilson and daughter-in-law Merle Wilson and Raymond Wilson all of Villa Rica; nephew, Tony Allsop of Villa Rica, a niece Gayle Doak of Freehand, Maryland; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fitzroy James and Helena Wilson James; son, Lloyd Wilson. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Carrollton. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
