Mr. David Rogers Peters, Sr., age 68, of Shawnee Trail, Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Newton Medical Center. He was born January 18, 1939 in Social Circle, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Foster W. Peters and the late Mrs. Erla Young Peters. He married Charlotte Cardell on June 21, 1958 in Social Circle, Georgia. Mr. Peters served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an accomplished chef and had a love for hunting fishing, and the outdoors. He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Banking in 1968. Mr. Peters had a successful banking career including the First National Bank of Douglasville where he served as President from 1975-1984, the Glenwood National Bank in Decatur, Citizens & Southern National Bank in Marietta, and the First National Bank of Atlanta and the Community Bank in Loganville where he served as Executive Vice President. Mr. Peters was also involved in community and civic affairs serving on the Douglas County Board of Education for 13 years where he served in the office of Vice President, the Rotary Club of Douglasville where he served as Vice President, and he was very involved with the Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Charlotte Cardell Peters of Douglasville; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Ron Zepp of Winston; son and daughter-in-law, David and Julie Peters, Jr. of Dallas, GA; one brother and sister in law, Donald and Barbara Peters of Social Circle; granddaughters, Desiree Zepp, Lauren Peters, Jessica Zepp, Melanie Peters; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, March 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Adair officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Thursday, March 8, 2007 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the County Line Baptist Church Building Fund, 1814 North County Line Road, Lithia Springs, Georgia 30122.
