Mr. Howard Lavern Matlock, age 76, of Meadowbrook Drive, Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1929 in Emerson, Nebraska the son of Mrs. Louise Shaver Matlock and the late Mr. Earl Matlock. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He worked as a truck driver for Transcon Truck Lines. He was a longtime member of the Teamsters and had won the one million mile safety award. He was an avid fisherman and he could fix anything. His passion was helping people. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Matlock and Sharon Prucha; son, Jerome Shawanesse; nephew, Todd Prucha. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mrs. Rosalie K. Fowler Matlock of Douglasville; his mother, Mrs. Louise Matlock of Cheyenne, WY; his children, Ronald (Maxine) Wilson of Douglasville, GA, Shirleen Matlock of Douglasville, GA, Susan (James) Teczar of West Brookfield, MA, and John Wasem of Douglasville, GA; daughter-in-law, Connie Shawanesse of Etters, PA; one sister and brother-in-law, Connie (Les) Soard of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Sharon (Ted) Pyle of Temple, GA, Katherine (Eric) Eberlein of Fayetteville, NC, Scott (Mariah) Saville of Chicopee, MA, Cindy Shawanesse of Etters, PA, Jessica (Scott) Harder of Ware, MA, Julie Shawanesse of Etters, PA, Jeremiah Saville of Douglasville, GA, Jonas Shawanesse of Etters, PA, and Daniel Teczar of Arlington, VA; nieces and nephews, Brent (Keri) Prucha of Council Bluffs, IA, Paul Wilson of Douglasville, GA, Jamie (Phillip) Bishop of Dallas, GA, Christopher Wilson of Douglasville, GA, Steven Wilson of Douglasville, GA, Kelly Ryan of North Platte, NE, Shawna Ryan of Cheyenne, WY, and Connie Ryan of Chicago, IL; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 great grand nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, October 16, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Vicar Mike Case officiating. Interment will follow at Bright Star United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Sunday, October 15, 2006 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
