Mr. Loring Moore Taylor, of 2000 East-West Connector, Austell, Ga, born November 1, 1916, Douglas County, Georgia, deceased April 13, 2006. He is survived by his son, the Rev. Kendall M. Taylor of Lakeland, Florida, daughter-in-law Karen Walton Taylor, two grandsons, Brian Everette and his wife Michele Keeports Taylor, Brett Emerson and his wife Julie Hannigan Taylor, both of Dallas, Georgia, four great grand children, Logan, Hannah, Jake and Lorin Kay, two brothers Thomas N. and Selwyn B., and a host of nieces and nephews. His wife, Willie âDeeâ Yancey Taylor predeceased him in 2000. Loring, one of the eight surviving children of Peter C and Clara M Kendall Taylor, graduated Hiram High School in 1933 and had a brief career with the Georgia State Highway Department. He met Dee Yancey and married her February 7, 1940. Shortly afterward he began employment in transportation and, until his retirement in 1977, drove streetcars, trolleys and busses for Georgia Power, Atlanta Transit and Marta. For several years he also served as point and radio car Supervisor. He was in the US Navy toward the end of World War II, serving as radarman on an LST in the Pacific theater. A life long Methodist he and wife Dee were instrumental in beginning a new church, St Matthew, in Jefferson Park in East Point, Ga. For the last thirty three years he was a member of Midway UMC in Douglasville, Ga., active in many leadership capacities as long as his health permitted. All his life he was a man of integrity and honor, a faithful husband and father. Since 1995 he has been a resident of Presbyterian Village in Austell Ga. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, April 17, 2006 at 10:00 AM from Midway United Methodist Church in Douglasville with Dr. Ray Finkler, Dr. Orin L. Sampson, and Rev. Wilton Moulder officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Hiram, Georgia. The following will serve as pallbearers: Brian Taylor, Brett Taylor, Logan Taylor, Selwyn Taylor, Jack Taylor, and Chester Conner. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Sunday, April 16, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
