Mr. Thelbert Grenoble “Bill” Ayres, 85, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Ayres was born April 11, 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of the late William A. Ayres and the late Minnie Lorena Gordon Ayres. Mr. Ayres was a long standing member of First Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. He was the founder of Ayres Realty, the oldest real estate company in Douglas County. He started Aero Sales Inc. at Charlie Brown Airport. He was an adventurer who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II as an Aviation Mechanic on the U.S.S. Pine Island. He loved his farm at Honey Acres and his family, who loved him so. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Gordon Ayres; and two brothers, Noble Brawnson Ayres and Eldorado Ayres. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Blanche Seignious Ayres of Lithia Springs; son and daughter in-law, Steven Douglas and Beth Ayres of Lithia Springs; three grandchildren; Heather and Matt McKay, Stephanie and Andrew Godfrey and Benjamin Ayres and Amanda Mathis. Two great grandchildren, Alivia Mathis and Samantha McKay, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 3:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Dr. Marion Beaver and Rev. Mike Sinyard officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, May 30, 2008, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
