Mr. William Monroe Martin, 82, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Pine Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born September 20, 1923 in Carroll County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Samuel Benjamin Martin and the late Mrs. Martha Ann Boyd Martin. Mr. Martin served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict for twelve years having achieved the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Martin was an active member of Flat Rock Baptist Church having served as a Deacon, choir member, Training Union teacher and Sunday School teacher for many years. He worked in Vacation Bible School every year. He was a paper handler for Data Graphics. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Cheely Martin; sisters, Mandy Ovie Perren, Annie Lula Martin, and Esther Ethel Martin. He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Lou Ellen Fendley and Bobby Fendley of Villa Rica, one brother and sister-in-law Robert and Louise Martin of Villa Rica; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM from Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Puckett and Rev. Bob Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Glenn Memorial Park in Villa Rica. Pallbearers will be the deacons of Flat Rock Baptist Church.. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Martin’s Sunday School class from Flat Rock Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Monday, June 12, 2006 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church Building Fund, 961 Flat Rock Road, Villa Rica, Georgia 30180.
