Mrs. Helena Katharina Ruedig Brown, age 80, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 following a short illness. She was born June 23, 1930 in Germany the daughter of the late Mr. Josef Ruedig and the late Mrs. Helena Katharina Zoller Ruedig. She was a homemaker. She was a strong woman of faith and was devoted to her family. She was lovingly called “Nana” by her cherished family. She was a Beloved Mother, Mother-in-law, Sister, Aunt, Friend, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Brown; brother, Hans Georg Ruedig; sister, Marianne Ruedig Burrier Kay. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Helena G. Brown Boone and Rev. Frank Boone of Douglasville, GA, Marilyn M. Brown Parker and Scotty Parker of New Port Richey, FL, Ernest L. “Butch” Brown of Gainesville, GA, and Raymond L. Brown, Jr. and Angie Atherholt Brown of Sussolk, VA,; brothers, Ernst Josef Ruedig; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her chosen children, Fayth Heath, Clifford Brown, Hannelore Voller Brown, Barbara Ann Burrier Key; several nieces and nephews also survive. The Memorial Celebration and interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Following the ceremony the family will host a luncheon in her honor. This is a time to share favorite memories and stories to celebrate Nana's life. The family has requested memorial contributions to Wesley Chapel UMC for the Building Fund in lieu of flowers. Wesley Chapel was a big part of her life for the past eight years.
