Mrs. Mary Frances Cochran Giles, age 98, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, January 26, 2007 at Douglasville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 14, 1908 in Douglas County, Georgia to Mr. William Bascom Cochran and Mrs. Nannie Megee Cochran. Mary was a teacher at various schools in the county for many years. During World War II she worked at Lockheed and after the war resumed her teaching career until the mid 1950’s when she went to work at Douglas County Family and Children Services. She retired from there and then pursued her real love – cooking and gardening. She was a faithful member of County Line Baptist Church for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Howard Giles; her three brothers, Robert Bascom Cochran, Merritt Cochran and Hubert Cochran; her five sisters, Beatrice Standley, Inez Little, Elsie Gordon, Willie “Bill” Giles, and Bessie Williams Meadows. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Angie Cochran of Alpharetta; her niece and guardian, Martha Ann Little and her husband, Curtis Little of Douglasville; several other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, January 29, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor David McLendon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday, January 29, 2007 from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour. Messages of condolences may be sent to www.jones-wynn.com.
