Mrs. Verdie Weathington Winters

Mrs. Verdie Weathington Winters, age 86, of Rockmart, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 at her residence. She was born February 4, 1921 in Haralson County, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. William Weathington and the late Mrs. Hattie Browning Weathington. She married J.B. Winters on November 21, 1936 in Haralson County, Georgia. She was a member of Draketown Baptist Church. She worked at Coats & Clark Thread mill in Clarksdale. She enjoyed sewing and fishing. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J.B. Winters; son, J.C. Winters and daughter, Betty Winters. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby Nell and Charlie Mooneyham of Rockmart, Barbara and Howard Walker of Buchanan, and Gladys and Jimmy Hulsey of Rockmart; one son and daughter in law, Jerry and Stella Winters of Rockmart; one sister, Alice Garner of Temple; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM from Draketown Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Weaver and Brother Brad Walker officiating. Mrs. Winters will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Ricky Mooneyham, Scott Mooneyham, Oscar Cash, Brian Hicks, Terry Winters, Howard Walker, Charlie Mooneyham and Jimmy Hulsey.
