Mrs. Myrtis Lucas Woodruff, age 72, of Jefferson, Georgia, formerly of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012. She was born May 30, 1939 in Littleton, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Mr. Ervin Belyeu Lucas and the late Mrs. Betty Mae Walker Lucas. She retired from CDI Meyer Laminates and later was affiliated with Bil Mar Corporation. She was a member of Jefferson First Baptist Church for 11 years and was a past member of First Baptist Church Lithia Springs for over 39 years. During her visits to Douglasville, she became an attender of Beulah Baptist Church and the King’s Daughters Sunday School Class. She was devoted to her family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a woman after God’s own heart and she loved everyone. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and spend time with her family and friends. Her favorite pastime was shopping with her daughters and granddaughters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Ann Tweedell, Leila Chapman, and Emily Martin and brother, Leigh Lucas. She is survived by her husband, Frederick “Fred” Woodruff of Jefferson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Bill Murray of Douglasville, Kim and Mark Floyd of Winston, and Pam and Carl Martin of Jefferson; brother and sister-in-law, Dallas and Betty Sue Lucas of Laguna Woods, California; 8 grandchildren, Will and Trista Murray of Douglasville, Brooke Murray of Douglasville, Stan and Sarah Murray of Buford, Steven and Jill Floyd of Winston, Amberly Floyd of Winston, William Martin of Jefferson, Taylor Martin of Jefferson and Aaron Martin of Jefferson; one great-granddaughter, Addie Murray; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church Lithia Springs with Dr. Marion Beaver, Dr. Danny Watters and Dr. Michael Helms officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 10077 Highway 100, Hogansville, Georgia 30230 with Dr. Wayne Bray officiating. Mrs. Woodruff’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Those desiring to do so may make contributions to the Jefferson First Baptist Church, Post Office Box 395, Jefferson, GA 30549, First Baptist Church Lithia Springs, 3566 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Lithia Springs, GA 30122 or Beulah Baptist Church, 4031 Bankhead Highway, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
