Mrs. Naomia “Omie” Mae Fields Ward, age 96, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. She was born June 15, 1913 in Paulding County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Allen Fields and the late Mrs. Minnie Estell Norton Fields. She was a member of the Cold Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening and quilting and was a loving caregiver. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Earl Thelbert Ward; her son, Eugene Ward; her brothers, Irvin Fields and Oren Fields; and her sisters, Clara George, Arlie Ayers, Irene Ward and infant sister, Vester Fields; and son-in-law, Gerald Ussery. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Pauline and Reese Wallace of Bowdon Junction, Virginia Dodd Ward of Forest Park, Eunice and Horry Johnson of Carrollton, Roy and Ruth Ward of Temple, Barbara and Jim Burton of Roswell, Patricia and Tony Maurer of Roswell, Frances and Melvin Sudduth of Villa Rica, Forrest and Marvin Sudduth of Temple and Doris Ward Ussery of McRae; 22 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; her sister, Vera F. Hunter of Winston, her brother and his wife, Thurman and Joann Fields of Winston; her sister-in-law, Nell Ward of Winston; in-laws and their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 2:00PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Talmadge Chandler officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Monday, January 4, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
