Mr. Neil Harwell Carroll, 80, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. He was born January 8, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Harry Wilbur Carroll and the late Mrs. Christine Stephens Carroll Jones. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. During his years in the Air Force, he served in the Air Police in England. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 926 for 35 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Carroll and sisters, Jean Latham and Loretta Steiger. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joy Ham Carroll of Douglasville; daughter, Cheri Carroll of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Stacy Carroll of Villa Rica and Terry and Jean Carroll of Winston; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Ken Jones of Oklahoma; brother, Tommy and Jane Jones of Douglasville; 9 grandchildren and their spouses, Marie and Tommy Davis of Villa Rica, Georgia and J.D. Brewer of Villa Rica, Somer Carroll of Dallas and her fiancé, Kevin McGarity, Tyler and Linsey Carroll of Rocky Face, GA, Carolina Sewell of Douglasville, Audrey Carroll of Douglasville, Sterling Sewell of Winston, Dalton Carroll of Villa Rica and his fiancé, Ashley Hays, and Chandler Carroll of USMC Paris Island; ; 8 great-grandchildren; Dakota Davis, Colby Davis, Loic Davis, Wyatt Carroll, Aiden Carroll, Emma Lou Carroll, Colton Carroll, Lakelyn Carroll, Luke Allgood, and Evan Allgood; nieces, Vickie Cason of Hampton and Angie Abbott of Riverdale; nephew, Tony Steiger of Hampton; several extended family also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. Military Honors will be provided by members of the United States Air Force Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in memory of Mr. Neil Carroll to the Wounded Warrior Project.
