Norma Jean Norton

July 28, 1928 — December 12, 2024

Powder Springs, Georgia

Norma Jean Norton, a beloved caretaker and cherished matriarch, a woman of faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully departed this world on December 12, 2024, at her home in Powder Springs, Georgia. She was born on July 28, 1928, in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Mr. Floyd Earl Konkle and the late Mrs. Josephine May Campbell Konkle.

Norma was a devoted caretaker who spent a significant part of her life nurturing her family and her former husband, Mr. Ervin W. Norton. She rooted herself in Albion, Michigan, for many years before making the heartfelt decision to move to Georgia in 2001. This transition marked the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Norma was known for her loving spirit and her heart of gold. She expressed her affection through thoughtful acts of kindness and generous gifts, ensuring that everyone around her felt cherished. Many of her family members fondly recall her incredible baking skills, as she made the best cookies and never forgot a single birthday, always finding a way to celebrate each person’s special day with warmth and joy.

Her personality extended into her hobbies, where she expressed her creativity through sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting. These treasured skills brought Norma comfort and peace. As she leaves this world, her proudest accomplishments stand testament to her legacy: her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who carry her love and values forward. Norma Jean Norton will be remembered as a pillar of strength and compassion, a beacon of hope for those who knew her.

Her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. As we reflect on her remarkable life, let us hold close the memories of her laughter, cookies, and unwavering love — gifts she freely shared that will forever warm our hearts.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Ervin W. Norton; brother, Donald “Don” Konkle; sister, Marilyn Mohler.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Pamela “Pam” Smith and her husband Frank; sons, Michael Norton and his wife Ada, Stephen Norton and his wife Lori; brother, Phillip Konkle and wife Sandra; sister, Martha Staley, and husband James; grandchildren, Abigail and husband Steve, Gabriel and wife Lindsey, Sarah, Issac, Abel, Jonathan, Chet, and David; great-grandchildren, Tannor, Karrington, Belle, Jaxton, Cheyenne, and Ashley; great-great-grandchildren, Victoria, and Liam and Isa, Liam, Talia, and Emrys; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
