Norman came into this world on Monday, May 29, 1950 to be greeted by his parents Samuel Wesley and Dorenda Parker in Long Branch, N.J. Their third child.

Norman’s education came from Asbury Park, N.J. school system and the “Springwood Ave School of HARD KNOCKS”, as he graduated with the class of 1970. After graduation Norman enlisted into the Army Reserve in Fort Dix, N.J. Norman learned a lot while working at George’s Market as an all-around stocker and handyman (boy). He once thought he was the “REAL” Superman by jumping out of the 2nd floor window with a towel wrapped around his neck, just to find out he “could NOT fly”. Thankfully he was saved by the clothes line.

He was known as a hard worker, traveler and an avid San Francisco 49ers fan, Atlanta Braves fan and a Chicago Bulls fan. Thus he had the love of music and was named “DJ” Hollywood.

After leaving the streets of Asbury, N.J. he set sails for the Miami/Hollywood parts of Florida where he met his soul mate Mrs. Diane Jenkins who he dearly called “Pooh Pooh”. Diane was attending New Birth Baptist Church and they both accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior on February 11, 1994 and baptized on March 6, 1994. He was a faithful Christian and served on the communication ministry. They later moved to Douglasville, GA.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Dorenda Jenkins; two brothers, Donald and Douglas Jenkins; only sister, Diane Jenkins-Summerlin.

Left to cherish his fond memories are his wife, Mrs. Diane Jenkins, his children, David (Sharon) Love, Stephen Love, and daughter, Dorenda (Rudy) Henderson; one grandson, four granddaughters and five great grandchildren; his remaining brother, William “Butch” (Robin) Jenkins of Gastonia, NC; remaining sister, Vivian “Vickie” (Earvin) Thomas of Miami; children by marriage, Richard “Rick” Marlowe and LaShonda (Shon) White and the late Winston “PeeWee” Strapp; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends, and special childhood friend Greg “Toogie-Man-Boogie”, and family friend, Cory Martin.

The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, GA on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. William Gipson officiating.
