Oliver Charles Lucia

Oliver Charles Lucia, age 92, of Taylorsville, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. He was born on July 18, 1932, the son of the late Oliver Charles Lucia, Sr. and the late Margrete Helen Cowles Lucia.

Oliver was not only a skilled mechanic but also a proud US Army Veteran who served his country with honor and dedication. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Oliver's true joy in life came from his family. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding happiness in spending time with them and being a part of their lives. His love and support knew no bounds, and his family meant everything to him. In his leisure time, Oliver enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as camping, fishing, and dancing. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love for family, and a passion for life that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Oliver Charles Lucia will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered fondly, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mary Griffith Lucia; daughters, Gail Marie Elkins and Dianna Lynn Grier; grandson, Jesse Lee Lucia; brothers, James Lucia and Paul Lucia; sister, Barbara Devmo. 

He is survived by his children, Dawn Marie Lucia Arnold of Taylorsville, Shelly Lucia of Douglasville, Melody Ann Lucia Shields of Sevierville, TN, Richard Leo Lucia and Kelly Tyson of Lithia Springs; daughter-in-law, Susan Lucia of Temple, sisters, Patricia Ann Forjones of New York; brother, Albert Lucia of Arizona; grandchildren, Jessica Foster, Sean Lucia, Christina Iocono, Michael Iocono, Holly Smith Shannon, Melissa Rugato, Scott Grier, Becky Grier Tucker, Adam Grier, Clinton Grier, Danny Grier, Christopher Grier, Dawn Elkins Dannenberg, and Derek Elkins; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 3:00 PM from the Villa Rica Chapel at Jones-Wynn. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.
