Otis Walter Self

Mr. Otis Walter Self, age 82, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at his residence in Dallas. He was born July 9, 1927 the son of the late Mr. Thomas Benson Self and Mrs. Sara Davis Self. He married his wife, Floria Lee Johnson Self on June 6, 1966 in East Point. He worked as an Insurance Agent for National Life Insurance Company, and after he retired he worked at Lithia Springs Wood Yard. He served in the Army during WWII. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved fishing, and was in a bowling league at Glenwood Lanes in Decatur and also bowled in a league at Stone Mountain. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Earl Self, Virgil Self, and Paul Self. He is survived by his loving wife, Floria Lee Johnson Self; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and John Ryan of Florida, Jean and Danny Croft of Cumming, Lisa and Scott Coursey of Temple; sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon and Dena Self of Douglasville, Wayne and Becky Self of Temple, Tommy Self of Dallas, Dylan Self of Dallas; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby and Hubert Gilstrap of Douglasville, Mary Mullenix of Atlanta; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. H.D. Gilstrap officiating. The internment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville.
