Pastor Danny Bruce Moody

Pastor Danny Bruce Moody, age 73 of Douglasville, Georgia gained his heavenly wings Saturday, December 26, 2020. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by family from complications of diabetes. He was born January 19, 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Edward Reuben Moody and the late Mrs. Pearl Post Matthews. Rev. Moody worked at Coca-Cola in sales before being called to the ministry in 1974. He pastored at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Douglasville for 34 years from 1976 until 2010. Rev. Moody felt his most important role in ministry was leading people to Christ and he was a faithful servant of the Lord for many years. He loved traveling to both foreign and home mission fields that the church supported. Rev. Moody was one of two people from Georgia chosen to be a torch bearer for the 1996 Olympics. He helped fundraise for the Douglas County Sheriff's Department for the purchase of bullet proof vests. He loved life and spending time with family, going to the races with his brother-in-law and going fishing with his two boys. In addition to his parents, Rev. Moody was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Moody; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Obie and Ruby Parson of Lithia Springs; brothers-in-law, Robert, Ronald and Tracy Parson. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Brenda Parson Moody of Douglasville; his sons, Kevin Moody of Atlanta and Keith Moody of Douglasville; his grandchildren, Crystal Moody Touchet and her husband, Michael "Buddy" Touchet of Douglasville and Destiny Moody of Winston; his great-grandchildren, Paisley, Kyleigh, Carsyn and Haylee Touchet; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anthony Parson and his wife, Sheryl Parson, Cathy Parson, Nancy Parson and Lynne Parson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to meet at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 12:00Noon until 1:30PM. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:30PM at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville with Reverend Mike Powers officiating and speakers, Jerome Duncan and Anthony Parson. Musical selections will be rendered by Michael Couch. Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Moody, Keith Moody, two APD Honor Guard Members, Chad McAdams and Joel Houston.
