Patricia Ernst

Patricia Ann Digman Ernst passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 9, 2016 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on May 1, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI to Eric and Hazel Digman. The family, including her brother Jack (deceased) and sister Mary Beth, moved to Cincinnati where Patty attended Mother of Mercy High School. She married the love of her life, Richard Ernst (deceased) and moved with him around the country for 63 years, making many friends who were drawn to her gentle kindness and charity. Her eight children, Richard David (Sarah), Eric (Lisa), Robert (Margaret), Mary Elizabeth (Paul Terheide), Gina Smith (Tim), Meg Schuessler (Steve), Chris (Terri), and John Michael (Lynda), will miss her twinkling blue eyes, sweet smile, and joyful dancing. She is survived by her sister Mary Beth Mueller (Clifford, deceased), sister-in-law Betty Mayer (Chuck, deceased), eighteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many dear neighbors and friends at St. John Vianney and St. Theresa’s Catholic parishes. In lieu of flowers, Patty asked that donations be made to your local St. Vincent de Paul Society. A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, December 13 at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent at www.jones-wynn.com.
