Paul Gary Burns

Mr. Paul Gary Burns, age 65, of Palatka, Florida, formerly of Carrollton, Georgia passed away April 6, 2006 at Putman Community Medical Center, after an extended illness. He was born October 8, 1940 in Carrollton, Georgia the son of the late Lewis England Burns and Mrs. Ima Belle Williamson Richardson Burns. He was a retired Master Tile Contractor. He was recognized throughout North Georgia for his professional and artistic skill in his chosen profession. In 2002 he retired from his business and moved to Palatka, Florida to spend his golden years on the St. Johns River. He was a member of the Continental Club of Orange Park, Florida. An avid outdoorsman, fisherman, and boater, he was known and revered for his boating abilities. His friends affectionately referred to him as “Captain Gary”. He loved gardening and took great pride in his success cultivating varieties of hot peppers. He was a member of Consolation Baptist Church, near his childhood home in Hulett, Georgia Mr. Burns is survived by his Mother, Ima Williamson Richardson Burns who celebrated her 100th birthday in January. He is survived by three sons. The eldest son, Christopher Paul and his wife, Tammy (Taz), and their children, Shianne, Dillion, Julie, Sabrina (Sassy), and Tyler of Lake Wales, Florida. The second son, Gary Keith and his wife, Tyann, and their children, Justin, Caitlyn, and Dalton of Haines City, Florida. The youngest son, Joseph Casey, of Bowdon, Georgia. He is survived by his siblings, Amos Richardson of Austell Georgia, Ruth Dewberry of Bremen, Georgia, James Richardson and his wife, Lorraine of Ranburne, Alabama, Warren Burns and his wife Rachel of Vale, North Carolina, L.A. Burns of Villa Rica, Georgia, Janice Burns (sister in law) of Cleveland, Georgia, Denny Burns and his wife, Jean of Whitesburg, Georgia. Predeceasing him are his father, Lewis England Burns and his brother, Henry Wayne Richardson. Left to cherish his memory are all of his nieces and nephews and extended family, many friends and his loving companion, Gail Lumpkin of Palatka, Florida. Pallbearers will be Lewis Burns, Lee Burns, Jamie Robinson, Terri Dewberry, Randall Richardson, Terry (Hippy) Pace, T.J. Pace, Davis Laney. Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Richardson, James Richardson, Warren Burns, L.A. Burns, Denny Burns, Chris Bowen, Keith Bowen, Casey Burns, Bobby Richardson, and Charlie Strickland. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Monday, April 10, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11:00 AM from Consolation Baptist Church, 70 Consolation Church Road, Carrollton, Georgia 30116 with Minister Mike Stanley of Palatka, Florida officiating. Mr. Burns will lie in state at the church from 10:30 AM until the funeral hour. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial donations to the American Cancer Society. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica is serving the Burns Family
