Paul Omar Bruce

Mr. Paul Omar Bruce, 83, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Marietta. He was born January 16, 1925 in Oolitic, IN the son of the late Mr. Rolla Thurman Bruce and the late Mrs. Pearl Thomas Bruce. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he served in the European Theater. Mr. Bruce graduated in the Class of 1950 from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky with a Bachelors Degree in History. In 1955, he received his Master of Divinity Degree from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University and in 1972 received a Masters in Education from Georgia State. He was an educator for the Douglas County School System. Mr. Bruce was a member of the First Methodist Church of Douglasville where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Celia Cohran Bruce. He is survived by his daughter, Janna Bruce of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, Andy and Rebecca Bruce of Douglasville, Toby Bruce of East Point and Joel and Lorraine Bruce of Seneca, SC; 7 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1:00 PM from the First United Methodist Church of Douglasville with Rev. Max Caylor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Members of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Friday, May 9, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Messages of condolences to the family may be sent from www.jones-wynn.com.
