Peggy Ann Allen Popejoy

Mrs. Peggy Ann Allen Popejoy, age 72, of Winston, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. She was born October 9, 1937 in Fernbank, Alabama the daughter of the late Mr. Cecil Ezra Allen and the late Mrs. Lois Johnson Allen. She married the love of her life, Mack Lorn Popejoy on January 23, 1953. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Mableton and worked as a bookkeeper at Cub Foods. She was a member of the Eastern Star #423 and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed collecting shoes and lighthouses. The joy of her life was her family and she enjoyed her roles of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mack Lorn Popejoy on February 1, 2008. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Terri and Steve Aja of Winston and Pam Gabioud of Buchanan; her son, Richard Popejoy of Wilmington, NC; one sister, Gate Elliott of Austell; sister-in-law, Mishtilda Allen of Niceville, FL; five grandchildren, Tracy Payne, Chris Gabioud, Ashlee Aja, Brittany Popejoy, and Shaun Popejoy; 5 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hannah, McKinley, Tatum, and Madison; nephews, Randy Elliott and Barry Elliott; several cousins also survive. Graveside Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 1:00 PM (EST) at Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery in Vernon, Alabama. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Monday, November 16, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
