Phillip Frank Slaughter, affectionately known to many as "Big Phil," passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the age of 63. He was born on January 9, 1962 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Mary and Frank Slaughter.
Phillip found lots of joy in the great outdoors while either fishing or hunting with his local hunt club buddies.
A man of quick wit and easygoing charm, Phillip had an ability to forge deep connections with those around him. He was a loyal friend, always ready with a word of encouragement or a contagious laugh. His warm nature drew people to him, and his family-oriented values were evident in every aspect of his life. He took great pride in nurturing these bonds, ensuring that every gathering was filled with warmth and joy.
In a memory that will forever be remembered by those who knew him, Phillip had the distinct honor of meeting President Jimmy Carter. This meeting with the former President was a distinct honor that he carried with him throughout his life.
Phillip also cherished his beloved pets, a Yorkshire Terrier named Eady and a Chihuahua named Lexie. His bond with these canine companions was a testament to his gentle and caring nature, as he treated them as part of the family.
Phillip Frank Slaughter leaves behind a legacy characterized by friendship, love, humor, and a profound appreciation for nature. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 37 years, Kimberly Ann Slaughter; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell (Cassidy) Slaughter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff (Peggy) Slaughter and Steve (Marsha) Slaughter; grandson, Garrison Slaughter; best friend of many years, Keith Coon; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM in the Chapel.
