Phristal "Pete" Ronelk Greene, Sr.

Mr. Phristal “Pete” Ronelk Greene, Sr., 79, of Lilburn, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Wesley Woods Budd Terrace in Atlanta. He was born March 29, 1926 in Lenoir, NC the son of the late Mr. Henry Greene and the late Mrs. Molly Hawkins Greene. Mr. Greene attended Killian Hills Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. He was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He worked as an engineer for Batson & Cook Construction. During his career he was the Engineer in charge of several local landmarks including the Atlanta Journal & Constitution Building, several buildings on the Emory University Campus, Treasure Island on Buford Highway, and the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office in Dallas. Mr. Greene’s family donated a scrapbook to the Atlanta Journal Constitution that Mr. Greene began at the groundbreaking and detailed the project to completion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Greene and Lonnie Greene; and sister, Dora Mae Hollars. He is survived by his wife, Meredith Greene of Pembroke; one daughter, Sharon Leigh Greene of Machais, Maine; two sons and daughter-in-law, Phristal Ronelk Greene, Jr. and Pam Greene of Douglasville and Charles Matthew Greene of Pembroke; two sisters, Sarah Wright of Morehead, NC and Ida Watson of Lenoir, NC; one brother, Corbett Greene of Lenoir, NC; 4 grandchildren, Derek Greene, Dana Greene, Drew Greene, and LuAnn Brooks; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, December 16, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jon D. Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs with Military Honors rendered by members of the Ft. McPherson Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Thursday, December 15, 2005 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
