Mr. Porter Mill DeFoor, 79, of Daniel Road, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. He was born August 11, 1926 in Jefferson County, Alabama. He was the son of the late Andrew J. DeFoor and the late Annie Timmons DeFoor. Mr. DeFoor was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II in the Pacific. He married Betty Kirby 58 years ago today (March 27, 1948). He was a corrections officer and Deputy Warden for Cobb County. Mr. DeFoor was owner/operator of DeFoor’s Garage in Villa Rica, as well as a former Villa Rica Police Officer. Mr. DeFoor was a member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. Mr. DeFoor was a member of the Villa Rica Masonic Lodge #72 F&AM for 49 years and served the offices of Past Master and Past Worthy Matron for the State of Georgia. In addition to his parents, Mr. DeFoor was preceded in death by his brothers, Nathan J. DeFoor and Billy Edward DeFoor and his sisters, Ruby Irene Jeffers, Lucille Keaton, Evelyn Leathers, Cora Lee Crawford, Elsie Townsend and Frances Bishop. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Kirby DeFoor of Villa Rica; his daughter, Cheryl DeFoor of Villa Rica; grandchildren, Caroline DeFoor of Temple and Beth DeFoor of Villa Rica; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Dr. J. B. Marlow and Rev. Don Hazel officiating. Pallbearers will be Terry Keaton, Mike Meeks, Steve Lassetter, Danny Kirby, Kyle Wilson, Perry Clark, Gary Townsend, Sr., Franklin Richardson, Tant Richardson and Toby Richardson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be officers from the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department. Interment with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Tuesday, March 28, 2006, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Those desiring to do so may make donations In Memory of Mr. Porter M.
