Mr. Ray Lynn Bishop, age 88, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at Tranquility Hospice. He was born January 22, 1922 in Mitchellville, IA the son of the late Mr. Carl Emmett Bishop and the late Mrs. Bertha Rice Bishop. He served in the United States Army during WWII serving stateside in Louisiana. He enjoyed flying small aircraft, fishing and hunting. He attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Douglasville. He had 63 years of service to Union Local 33 Des Moines, IA as a pipe fitter and welder. He also worked in the oil fields in Kansas and Missouri for Bishop Exploration. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Doris Jesse Bishop; brothers, Floyd A. Bishop, Milton Bishop, Kenneth Bishop, and Elton O. Bishop; sisters, Mildred Sprague, Grace Ford, Blanche Whittaker. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Nanci B.and Jerry Moon of Douglasville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Pastor Robert J. Maulella officiating. Interment will follow at Yorkville Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Ray Cochran, Brian Barkley, Jason Cochran, Thomas Cochran, Terry Moon, and Tom Clark. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
