Ray Williams

Mr. Ray Lee Williams, age 92, of Milledgeville, Georgia formerly of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Monday, October 10, 2011. He was born February 28, 1919 in Douglas County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. James R. Williams and the late Mrs. Odessa Fortner Williams. He was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Villa Rica. He served in the U.S. Military as a Technical Sergeant of the 8th U.S. Army Medical Corp. of the 99th Evacuation Hospital Southwest Pacific Arena. During his military career, he earned two bronze stars. He worked as a medical technologist at Rockmart-Aragon Hospital and he was a member of the VFW. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Patterson Williams; son, Rusty Williams; sister, Elsie Cannon and brothers, Elvis Williams and Hubert Williams. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ann Williams Barton and her husband, Dr. Louis Barton of Milledgeville; sister, Hazel McKenzie of Alpharetta; 2 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Graveside Service will be conducted Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockmart, Georgia with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army National Guard.
