Mr. Raymond Douglas Brooks, age 66, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice following an extended illness. He was born August 1, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Lionel Melvin Brooks and the late Mrs. Lorena Honea Brooks. He married Brenda Patterson on June 9, 1967 in College Park, Georgia. Mr. Brooks retired as a truck driver with Rayloc. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed time spent with them and being outdoors. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Winston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Lamar Brooks. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Patterson Brooks of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Elmer Horn of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Shay and Kim Brooks of Powder Springs; sister, Jean Garrison of Dallas; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Cyndy Brooks of Lithia Springs; and sister-in-law and her spouse, Cheryl and Charles Segers of Douglasville; seven grandchildren, Zack Brooks, Chase Brooks, Rebecca Horn, Katie Horn, BreAnna Brooks, Anna Horn and A.J. Brooks; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Union Hill Baptist Church in Winston, Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Memorial Services will be conducted Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 4:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church in Winston with Pastor Josh Agan officiating.
