Mr. Raymond Hester, 80, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at his residence. He was born July 20, 1935 in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Marvin Anderson Hester and the late Mrs. Gladis Irene Lewis Hester. He married Daisy Wynelle Loner on December 23, 1954 in Douglasville. A longtime resident of Douglasville, he loved living most of his life in Douglas County and he remembered when Fairburn Road was a dirt road. He was owner and operator of a trucking transport business for over 30 years. He loved his job and enjoyed being a truck driver. In his later years, he enjoyed helping his nephews haul logs in the logging industry. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying doing yard work. He was baptized in Sweetwater Creek while attending Poplar Springs Baptist Church many years ago. He was a current member of Chapel Hill Road Baptist Church. He was devoted to God and his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He had a special love for his dog Miley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Hester; and sisters, Joyce Roberts, Jeanette Dailey, and Annalee Hester. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Daisy Wynelle Loner Hester of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Kim Hester of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Kenneth Clark of Fairburn; sister, Geneva Cotton of Carrollton; brothers and a sister-in-law, Fred Hester of Carroll County and Lloyd and Ellen Hester of Douglas County; two grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Madeline Hester of Atlanta; and Joshua and Amelia Hester serving in the Armed Forces in Great Falls, Montana; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Randy Shirley officiating.
