Rebecca J. Hughes

Rebecca Jane Baker Hughes, 85 of Villa Rica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. She was born on November 29, 1940, in Appalachia, Virginia, the daughter of the late Rowdy B. Baker and the late Ella Jane Williams Baker.

Rebecca was a devoted housewife who dedicated her life to raising her children and nurturing her family. Rebecca had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless memorable moments.

She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Villa Rica for many years. She had a passion for gardening and flowers. She took pride in her gardens, lovingly tending to them as she would her family. Rebecca worked at Walmart in the men's department for twenty years, where she built strong relationships with her colleagues and customers alike.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Georgie Beavers, Cecil Baker, Frankie Baker, Jean McMillian, and June Beasley; great-grandchildren, Freeman Staley and Pearl Staley.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-nine years, Fred J. Hughes; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Curt Freeman of Douglasville, Debbie and Steve Pritchett of Temple, and Mary Ella and Butch Crenshaw of Villa Rica; four grand-daughters, Brandi Tant, Misti Staley, Tera Brook, and Kelli Craig; seven great-grandchildren, Mason Duffie, Audree Ricks, Anna Kate Brook, Zane Brook, and Ella Rose Brook; three great-great grandchildren, Rebecca Duffie, Rosie Duffie, and Casey Ricks; sister, Doshia Roller.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel with a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Rev. Eddie Allen will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Villa Rica.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Allen Brook, Steve Pritchett, Will Staley, Curt Freeman, George Hughes, and Patricia George.

Flowers are accepted, however; please make a donation directly to the family for hospital and funeral expenses. It would be greatly appreciated.

The family wants to send a special thanks to Tanner Hospice for all they did to help our family.

Rebecca leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will be cherished by her family and all who knew her.
