Rev. James Verlon Agan, 72, of Daniel Road, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica. He was born August 10, 1933 in Dallas, Georgia the son of the late Willie B. Agan, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mallie Elizabeth White Agan. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Winston and retired from General Motors Corporation. He was ordained as a preacher of the gospel in 1957. He served as Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Winston, Eastside Baptist Church in Carrollton, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Newnan and Sunnyside Baptist Church in Lithia Springs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Elizabeth Agan Washington and brothers, Wilburn Luther âW.L.â Agan and Harold Stewart Agan. He is survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Genell Weathington of Winston, Barbara and Luther Young of Summerville, and Joyce Gordon of Franklin; Charles and Lillie Mae Agan of Winston, Shearel and Janice Agan of Winston, Rev. Champ and Diane Agan of Ft. Oglethorpe, Rev. Danny Agan of Winston, W.B. and Carolyn Agan of Winston; sister-in-law, Debbie Agan of Lithia Springs; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 4:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Terry Marbut, Rev. Johnny White, and Rev. Tim Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Cross at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens. The following will serve as pallbearers: Rev. Rodney Agan, Kenneth Washington, Dennis Weathington, Michael Agan, Donald Gordon, Jason Agan, Kevin Agan, and Keith Agan. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Friday, June 2, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday, June 3, 2006 from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM.
