Rev. Johnny Marion Ellis, Jr., age 77, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 following an extended illness. He was born December 5, 1933 in Fulton County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Johnnie Marion Ellis, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Lou Wood Ellis. He retired from the Roadway Express as a checker following 30 years of service. He was a minister of the Gospel and served as pastor and associate pastor at Fairburn Road Church of God and Mableton Church of God. He attended and served at the Highest Praise Church of God in Austell. He loved the Lord and was devoted to the ministry. He was an avid sportsman enjoying playing golf and softball for the church league. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Ellis. He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Jo Summerville Ellis of Lithia Springs; five children and their spouses, Starry and Steve Wallace of Winston, Keith and Ronnie Ellis of Ranger, Bart and Cami Ellis of Carrollton, Dawn Coleman of Carrollton and Wanda and Kevin Helms of North Carolina; his sister, Susan Cosby of Hampton; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one niece and nephew also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Miller and Rev. Chuck Spradlin officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs. The following will serve as pallbearers: Michael Tucker, Michael Jetter, J.S. Spradlin, Leonard Samanie, Juddy Morrow, and Albert Stinson. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
