Rev. Marvin Andrew Burdette, Jr., age 77, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, March 23, 2007 at his residence. He was born March 7, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Marvin Andrew Burdette, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mary Bertha Garrett Burdette. He served in the United States National Guard. He retired from Fulton County as a Sheriff Deputy and Prison Guard and Inspector for the Housing Authority and had worked as an architect and contractor. He was a Master Technician for Evinrude. He was a retired minister for the Church of God of Prophecy having served as pastor in Douglasville, Villa Rica, Senoia, Atlanta, and Dahlonega. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step son in the Lord, Wilburn Evans; brother, Lawrence Corbett Burdette and sisters, Barbara Jean Burdette and Carolyn Burdette Hallman. He is survived by one daughter, Renee Burdette Orr of Douglasville; one son, Benjamin Mark Burdette of Douglasville; step-daughters in the Lord, Scarlett Evans of Villa Rica, Dale Evans of Florida, and Phyllis Evans of Villa Rica; step-sons in the Lord, Kenneth Evans, Willard Evans, Macky Evans, and Wayne Evans all of Villa Rica; sisters, Juanita Burdette Queen of Winston, Janice Eleanor Trusty of Forest Park and Shirley Burdette Tucker of Douglasville; grandchildren, Seith Burdette of Temple, Brandon Saylor of Douglasville, Stasia Saylor of Douglasville and Hunter Lee Burdette of Douglasville; great grandchildren, Kayleigh Madison Burdette of Temple, Courtney James Burdette of Temple and Kirsten Bailey Yancey of Lithia Springs; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, March 25, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor James Green, Pastor Dale Wilson, Pastor Clifton officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta. Musical selections will be rendered by Robin Sheffield and Sabra Skidmore. The following will serve as pallbearers: Seith Burdette, Benjamin Mark Burdette, Clint Trusty, Kevin Saylor, Kenneth Evans, James Orr, Phillip Burdette, Joe Balock, Jerry Bryant, Keith O’Riley, and Ricky Daugherty. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Lee Burdette and Courtney James Burdette. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Friday, March 23, 2007 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Saturday, March 24, 2007 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM.
