Rev. Ralph Tapley, age 90, of Harmon Springs Drive, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. Rev. Tapley was born August 30, 1918 in Douglasville, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Ollie Tapley and the late Mrs. Laura Dale Tapley. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II as a motorcycle military police. Rev. Tapley was ordained into the ministry in 1939. He served in several different churches during his ministry including Fullerville Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Utopia Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Callie Harbin Baptist Church in Villa Rica, many churches in Alabama and he retired as a full-time minister after serving as pastor at Second Baptist Church of Douglasville, Georgia for 32 years. Rev. Tapley was a member of Second Baptist Church of Douglasville, Georgia and the Berean Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, Georgia. He also had a radio ministry, which broadcasted every day of the week and was uplifting to many. A special memory for Rev. Tapley was his visit in 1969 to the Holy Land, where he walked on the Jericho Road. In addition to his parents, Rev. Tapley was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Tapley; his brothers, Rev. Carl Tapley and O. W. Tapley; and his sisters, Mallie Tapley and Evenly McIntire. Survivors include his wife of over 15 years, Mrs. Reba Nell Tyson Tapley of Villa Rica; his sons and daughters-in-law, Sanford and Cathy Tapley of Dallas, Max and Cathy Tapley of Roswell and Rick Tapley of Douglasville;his step-daughters and their husbands, Jean and Max Wallace of Villa Rica and Judy and Julius Parrish of Villa Rica; his grandchildren, Corey Tapley, Tonya and Greg Sasser, Matt Tapley, Spencer Tapley, Kevin and Taron Wallace, Jeffrey and Mandy Wallace, John Wallace, Derek and Tracy Parrish, Ginger Parrish and Mary Parrish; his great-grandchildren, Chantz and Tori Tapley; Amber Knight and Ashley Sasser; Autumn, Austin, Alex and Avery Parrish; Wesley, William and Jaxson Wallace; great-great grandchild, Gavin Dukes and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, September 28, 2008 at 2:00 PM from Fullerville Baptist Church in Villa Rica with Rev. Bobby Wood, Rev. Steve Swafford, Dr. Garland Odom and Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by Mr. Ben Pilgreen, the His Mark Quartet and Mr. Danny Mote. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers bill be Gus Johnson, Rev. Lee Whaley, Rev. Charles Williams, Rev. Doug Weaver, Cula Hughie, Edmond Sauls, Frank Cutts, Rev. David Marshall, Horace Jackson, Harold Meyers, Dr. Larry Boss, Ken Johns, Rev. Wendell Rush, Rev. Johnny White and Jim Carroll and members of the Berean Sunday School from First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM with the family present from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
