My soul doeth wait upon my God for He is my Salvation. In Him I find a resting place. For I am His Creation. Rev. Theodore Roosevelt Christmas, age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, July 17, 2006. He was born June 17, 1924 in Bladon Springs, Alabama the son of the late Mr. Ernest F. Christmas and the late Mrs. Mamie Osborne Christmas. He attended Clark County High School in Coffeeville, Alabama. On the day of graduation, he left to serve in the U.S. Navy at Great Lakes, IL. He served during WWII and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon and the American Area Campaign Ribbon. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy he served in the U.S. Army Air Force Reserve for several years. He married Mamie York on June 2, 1946 in Thomasville, Alabama. To this union were born two children, Theodore R. Christmas, Jr. who preceded him in death and Paula Christmas Westfield, a surviving daughter. He was licensed and ordained to preach the Gospel in 1959. He pastored and preached at Sacred Cross Baptist Church and many other churches. He served as a regular minister on the Radio Broadcast for the Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, CA which helped to reach homeless, lost, and wayward people. He loved and taught Sunday School for many years and was highly esteemed for his ability to rightly divide the Word of God. He worked as an insurance salesperson and also as a salesperson in furniture stores where he was awarded many trophies and awards. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Mamie Christmas of Douglasville; one daughter, Paula Christmas Westfield and her husband, Rev. Andre Westfield, Sr.; three brothers, Ernest Christmas, Samuel D. Christmas, and Wilbert E. Christmas; three sisters-in-law, Mary Emerson of IL, Hattie Grayson of Mobile, AL, and Annie McGrew of Mobile, AL; 4 grandchildren, Nicole Stewart of England, Andre Westfield, Jonathan Westfield of Douglasville, GA and Victoria Westfield of Douglasville, GA; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 2:00 PM from Cornerstone Baptist Church at 7167 S. Sweetwater Road, Lithia Springs, Georgia . Interment and Graveside Service will be conducted Monday, July 24, 2006 at 10:00 AM from Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors rendered by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Friday, July 21, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
