Richard Leon Burrell, 71, of Douglasville, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born on May 19, 1955, the son of the late Thomas J. Burrell and the late Georgia Panther Burrell.
Richard also known as “Honest Abe,” a nickname that spoke volumes about his character. He was a hard worker throughout his life, and Richard dedicated himself to providing and supporting those he cared about most. His children were the pride and joy of his life, and his love for them was always apparent. Richard took great pride in his grandchildren, treasuring every moment spent with them.
Richard, in his younger years, enjoyed gathering together with his family and friends for games of Monopoly, Rummikub, and UNO. These shared moments of laughter and friendly competition were some of his favorite memories He loved music, especially the Beatles. Richard’s favorite saying was “Don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing!”
Richard Leon Burrell will be remembered for his love he had for his family. His presence will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Dulworth Burrell; brothers, Henry Burrell, Dennis Burrell, and Ronnie Burrell; sister, Victoria “Vicky” Cowdrick.
He is survived by his children, Sandra “Sandi” Lindsey, Michael and Amanda Burrell, Chris and Nadia Burrell; sisters, Brenda Roach; brothers and sister-in-law, Joe Burrell, Jack and Sherry Burrell; grandchildren, Richard and Destiny Lindsey, Ava Lindsey, Landon Burrell, and Jaylen Lindley; many extended family members.
The family will have a graveside service at Mozley Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
