Richard Ray Merritt

Richard “Ricky” Ray Merritt, age 68, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on June 25, 2024. He was born on March 19, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Mr. Miles Merritt and the late Mrs. Marjorie Dean Merritt.

Richard was a dedicated roofer who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Known for his unique personality that blended sarcasm with a good sense of humor, he enjoyed spending his days sitting on the porch watching cars pass by. Apart from his career in roofing and his military service in the army, Richard had a variety of hobbies that brought him happiness. Fishing, cutting grass, and yardwork were among his favorite pastimes. Richard's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, William "Billy" Merritt; sisters, Sheila Boleware, Linda Sheffield, Sherrie Peppers.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Tammy Merritt; sons, Ray (Laura) Merritt Jr., Brandon (Christy) Jones, Joshua (Chandler) Merritt; grandchildren, Racheal, Amanda, Chelsie, Landon, Caroline, Caleb, Brodie, Elam; as well as 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, "Mikki" Merritt and Elaine Callahan, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Richard Merritt was cremated. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
