Mr. Richard Harold Smith, age 84, of Temple, passed away, Tuesday, January 15, 2019. He was born March 4, 1934 in Douglas County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. James Wyatt Smith and the late Mrs. Lettie Davison Smith. Mr. Smith was a warehouse specialist for Winn Dixie for many years. He loved gardening, fishing, going to yard sales and flea markets. Mr. Smith was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian Cranford and twin sister at birth; brothers, Thad Smith, Herschel Smith, S. T. Smith; granddaughter, Amanda Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Mae Beavers Smith of Temple; daughters and son-in-law, Judy Holmes and Joe Williams of Bremen, Susan and Edward Snipes of Dacula, Kansas Shyanne Holmes of Temple; son and daughter-in-law, Joel Harold and Wilma Smith of Villa Rica; sister, Betty Jean Holtzclaw; brother, Preston Smith of Byron; 9 grandchildren, Joni Caballero, Brandon Smith, Jennifer Holmes, Brian Smith, Beth Crawford, J. J. Holmes, Joel Snipes, Daniel Snipes, Destiny Holmes; 22 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Friday, January 18, 2019 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Love in Douglasville. In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association, 41 Perimeter Ctr E, Atlanta, GA 30346.
