Richard Stanley Glowacki, Sr.

Mr. Richard Stanley Glowacki, Sr., age 79 of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, March 27, 2020. He was born March 6, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Mr. Leo Stanley Glowacki and the late Mrs. Victoria Cichon. Mr. Glowacki worked for Overnite Transportation as a city driver for 32 years and earned his Million Mile Mack Award. He was a veteran of the United States Navy stationed in Mayport, Florida serving on the U.S.S. Turner DDR834 where he met his wife Dollie whom he was married to for 50 years. Mr. Glowacki was a member of St. John Vianney in Lithia Springs but had been attending St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Douglasville. Mr. Glowacki loved God, his family and his country. He was a big fan of Elvis Presley and dancing to his music. His hobbies included cooking, creating beloved family recipes, gardening, woodworking, finding a great deal, collecting, watching old reruns of his favorite shows and playing pranks on his kids. Most of all he missed being able to get out to fish and hunt but held onto hope that he would one day be able to return to his outdoor activities that he missed and being able to go north to salmon fish with his brothers and friends. Most recently he was active is discussing politics. Never meeting a stranger, he was always making a new friend wherever he went and sharing his stories of life as a youth and in the military where he met his beloved wife. He was sought out countless times for his knowledge on a variety of topics and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. Most of all he will be remembered as a hardworking husband and father who sacrificed so much in his life for the family he loved unconditionally. His family will always love and be thankful for those sacrifices that both he and their mother made for them and will cherish each memory. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dollie Mae Timms Glowacki; son, Han's Thomas Walter Glowacki, Sr; daughter in law, Raedene Glowacki; and stepfather, Bernard Cichon. Mr. Glowacki is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws, Dawn and Richard (Pete) Van Gilder II of Hiram, Georgia, Victoria and Jeff Buchanan of Douglasville, Georgia, Pamela Mary Glowacki of Douglasville, Georgia, Neda and Greg Riddle, Sr. of Douglasville, Georgia; sons, Karl D. Glowacki of Newnan, Georgia, Richard Stanley Glowacki, Jr. of Lithia Springs, GA; Sixteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Sr. and Geraldine Lecznar of Macomb, Michigan, Roger and Kathie Lecznar of Clinton Township, Michigan; sister in law, Minnie Lee Timms Surrett of Piedmont, AL and Shirley Timms of Cedartown, GA. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial service will be announced at a later date. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
