Mr. Richard John Welch, 79, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away, peacefully in his sleep, Tuesday, August 18, 2015. He was born July 7, 1936 in Des Moines, IA. He was the son of the late Mr. John Welch and the late Mrs. Helen Grubb Welch and his stepmother who raised him, the late Mrs. Ruby Welch. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a Construction Analyst and Mechanical Contractor. The father of seven children, he was strong in his faith and devoted to God, his family, and church. As a child he made rockets and later in life enjoyed building model airplanes. Mr. Welch was a fun loving, hardworking man who never met a stranger and loved joking with friends and family. He was a member of the Boys Scouts of America. He was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Nativity in Austell. He volunteered at the Daily Bread Food Ministry every Tuesday in Douglasville. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cynthia âCyndeâ Welch of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Denice and Richard Ramsey of Trenton, MO, Theresa and Larry Swanciger of Las Vegas, NV, and Kendra and J.R. Davidson of Winston, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Tina Welch of Farmington, IA, Chris and Lori Welch of Des Moines, IA, Skip and Johanna Welch of Douglasville, GA, and Blaine and Veronica Welch of Greenville, NC; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Don Stewart of Springfield, VA; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Sandy Welch of Des Moines, IA; father-in-law, Wayne Seehusen of Fort Dodge, IA; sister-in-law, Karen and Warren Birchard of Des Moines, IA; brothers-in-law, Gordon and Linda Seehusen and Richard and Amanda Seehusen of Fort Dodge, IA; seventeen grandchildren, Cameron Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell, Nick Mitchell, Jenniffer Welch, Christina Chiovaro, Ryan Welch, Clint Welch, Scott Welch, Sherrie Swanciger, Alissa Hansen, Samantha Austin, Taylor Welch, Philip Welch, Noelle Welch, Andrew Welch, Tyler Davidson, and Grant Davidson; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, August 21, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Mr. Welch will lie in state at the church on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:30 AM at The Lutheran Church of the Nativity, 2450 Clay Road, Austell, GA 30106 with Rev. Dena Lane officiating. According to the familyâs wishes, the body will be cremated following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to The Lutheran Church of the Nativity, 2450 Clay Road, Austell, GA 30106, in his memory.
