Bob CooperMr. Robert “Bob” Gail Cooper, 87, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at his home. He was born April 3, 1927 in Holt, Alabama the son of the late Mr. Curtis M. Cooper and the late Mrs. Eva Mae Batson Cooper. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Atlanta Journal having worked in sales. He started Cooper Advertising, a local business, in the late 1970’s and operated it for 25 years. He served his community in the capacity of Scout Master, involvement in youth recreational sports, and as a member of the Optimist club. In his Baptist faith, he served as a Sunday school and training union teacher, as well as Sunday school and training union superintendent throughout the years. Mr. Cooper was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Lou Turnipseed Cooper; and sister, Clara Ann Cooper Winston. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Beth Cooper of Douglasville, GA, Timmy Cooper of Douglasville, GA, and Jimmy and Shaye Cooper of Alexandria, AL; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, June 27, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Dr. John Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Victory Baptist Church Cemetery in Douglasville with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Honor Guard.
