Mr. Robert âBobâ Hamilton Steele, Jr., 75, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Monday, May 23, 2005 in La Rochelle, France. He was born March 6, 1930 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Robert Hamilton Steele, Sr. and the late Mrs. Mattie Mae Moss Steele. He was a 23-year veteran of the United States Coast Guard having served as a radar man during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Steele also worked in civil service for the United States Postal Service and retired after 20 years. Mr. Steele was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Hamilton Steele, III. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mrs. Jeannine Celtone Steele of Douglasville; daughters, JoAnn Price of Forsyth, Georgia and Veronica Weber of Lynnwood, Washington; sons, William N. Steele of Bellingham, Washington; Albert L. Lewis of Smyrna, Georgia; Thomas A. Lewis of Dayton, Ohio; Philippe H. Lewis of Goldsboro, North Carolina; James Joseph Steele of Atlanta, Georgia; and Michael James Steele of Pensacola, Florida; sister, Peggy Ann Gillespie of Snellville; brother, Jimmy Mack Steele of Charleston, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 nieces and 2 nephews also survive. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville.
