Robert Lee Brouwer, 73, of Douglasville, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025. Born on July 9, 1951, to the late Ferne Kimmich Brouwer and Louis Brouwer, Robert lived a life characterized by service and dedication to his family and community.
Mr. Brouwer dedicated 20 years of his life to the United States Navy, including serving in the Gulf War. Upon retiring from the Navy, Robert continued to live out his commitment to service as a Deacon at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. There, he found joy in working with children, particularly during children’s group and Vacation Bible School.
He took great pleasure in attending Navy reunions where he could catch up with his friends. Known for his dry sense of humor, Robert brought a lightheartedness to those around him.
Mr. Brouwer held family close to his heart. He prioritized honesty and integrity that will be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, David Cummings and his brother-in-law, Rick Tacey.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Jean Brouwer; daughter, Becky (Britt) Carson; sons, David Brouwer, David Cole and Micheal Scott; sisters, Mary Sue (Mike) Mitchell, Carolyn Tacey and Deanna (Steve) Mathers; brothers, Dennis (Cindy) Cumming and Mike Zwicker; his sidekick, Ian Cole, as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home and Crematory Douglas Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Douglas Chapel with interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth, Georgia.
