Robert C. Abernathy

Mr. Robert Carl Abernathy, age 69, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice in Austell. He was born February 6, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Walter Abernathy and the late Mrs. Mary Emma Camp Abernathy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a delivery driver for Emory World Wide. He was an active member of the VFW Post # 2681 on Powers Ferry Road in Atlanta and the American Legion Post #160. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Dianne May Abernathy; and his daughter, Tanya Renee Abernathy Evans. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Corey Jackson of Douglasville; Wendy and Joseph Wheeler of Rabun County; and Mike Evans of Dallas; one son, Robert Brian Abernathy, Sr. of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Bobbie McKenzie of Killeen, Texas; brother, Omer Camp of Gainesville, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park.
