Robert Edwin "Bob" Rogers

Mr. Robert (Bob) Edwin Rogers died November 25, 2006 in Douglasville of pneumonia. He was born to the late James Alonzo and Vicie Hall Rogers on September 10, 1921 in Ochlocknee, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he attended a vocational school in Atlanta and was drafted to serve in the Army (Signal Corp) and was stationed in the Philippines. He completed his B.A. degree from Mercer University in Macon, Ga. In 1949 after his discharge from the service. He then began his career of teaching which took place in Fitzgerald, Ochlocknee, Moultrie, and Nashville, Georgia. He completed his M.A. degree at Peabody College in Nashville, TN in 1953. He married Barbara (Bobbye) Jackson on December 21, 1952. In 1955, they moved to Decatur and he began his career with Vocational Rehabilitation (OASI), retiring in 1980. They were members of the Highlands Presbyterian Church for many years where he served as a deacon and elder. Later, they joined the Tucker Presbyterian Church. Bob and Bobbye moved to Douglasville in 2004 and joined the First Presbyterian Church there. He has been residing at Grace Assisted Living since then. He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbye, of 54 years, and daughter, Donna Green and her husband Morgan, and their daughter, Annie of Douglasville, and brother, Wallace Rogers of Albany, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory at First Presbyterian Church of Tucker, Georgia, 2200 Fellowship Road, Tucker, GA 30084. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel in Douglasville with Rev. Keith Hill and Rev. John Little officiating. Visitation will be before the memorial service at 1:00 PM and the service will begin at 2:00 PM. Messages of condolences to the family may be sent to www.jones-wynn.com.
