Mr. Robert Edward Hayes, 79, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He was born January 9, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Brig. Ernest Arthur Hayes and the late Brig. Mrs. Ida Sue Hodges Hayes. He married LaDelle Toole on March 1, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio. He retired as the General Manager at Tru-Fit Orthopedics. He was a volunteer fireman in Mt. Vernon, New York. He was a well-respected and hardworking man. He had a long history serving in the Salvation Army. He served in leadership at various churches throughout his life. He enjoyed classic cars. He attended Westside Worship Center in Winston, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Hayes; and brothers, Ernest Hayes, Edwin Hayes, and Richard Hayes. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, LaDelle Toole Hayes of Douglasville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Robert Maulella of Sebring, FL and Dawn and Richard Russo of Mt. Vernon, NY; one son, Ernest Hayes of Staatsburg, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Walter Guldenschuh of Ithaca, NY; one grandchild, Gianna Maulella; several nieces and nephews also survive. A Celebration of Life reception will be conducted Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 5:00 PM at the Westside Worship Center, 3540 Post Road, Winston, GA 30187.
