Robert Louis Helms Mr. Robert Louis “Pop” Helms, age 78, of Douglasville passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011. He was born April 10, 1933 the son of the late Mr. Charlie Helms and the late Mrs. Bertha Helms. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and Czechoslovakia as a radioman for four years. He worked for CSX Railroad as supervisor of the Signal Department for thirty-eight years. Mr. Helms loved fishing and traveling in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Helms and sister, Mary Eaton. He is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Barbara Gene George Helms of Douglasville; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Teresa Helms of Rockmart, Curt Helms of Rockmart; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Greg Bates of Suwanee; four grandchildren; one expecting great grandchild. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Don Voyles officiating. Interment will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Park in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica Friday, October 14, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
