Robert Hester

Mr. Robert Andrew Hester, 75, of Winston, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at his home, following an extended illness. He was born May 8, 1939, the son of the late Mr. Lewis Andrew Hester and the late Mrs. Lena Estell Pittman Hester. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War era. He retired as a Brick Mason and was of the Baptist Faith. He was a devoted grandfather, his grandchildren’s #1 cheerleader. They loved their “Paw Paw” dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Anthony “Andy” Hester; sister, Grace Dilbeck; and brothers, James Pittman, Paul Hester, Lamar Hester, and Jimmy Hester. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Bertie Louise Manning Hester of Winston; daughters, Regina Hester Stanley and her husband, Joe of Winston, Deirdre Hester Perna and her husband, Tom of Winston; and daughter of the heart, Laurie Smith Thurston and her husband, Todd of South Carolina; sister and brother-in-law, Irma McGouirk Loudermilk and her husband, L.D.; brother, Daril Hester; five grandchildren, Katelyn Paige Perna, Kenzie Brook Perna, Caleb Thurston, Emily Thurston, and Kiley Thurston; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, March 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Pat Aenchbacher and Pastor Larry Cook Jr. officiating.
