Robert Lane "Bob" Norton

Mr. Robert Lane Norton, 78, of Newnan, formerly of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007, at his residence. He was born March 28, 1929 in LaGrange, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Norman A. Norton and the late Mrs. Alma Gertrude Cato Norton. Mr. Norton was the owner and operator of Norton Realty Company. Mr. Norton was active in the Douglasville community; a charter member of Douglasville Lions Club; charter member of West Pines Country Club; founder of the Douglasville Chapter of The Sons of Confederate Veterans where he served as First Commander; member of the Cemetery Commission of Douglas County; and taught Real Estate at Douglas County Comprehensive High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Jack Norton, and Fred Jackson Norton. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Gay Norton; daughters and son in-laws, Beth Norton-Fant and Norman H. Fant of Acworth; Pam Norton Morris and Donald J. Morris of Newnan; Laura Norton Gardin Gray and Thomas Davis Gray, III of Dallas; and Margaret Norton Radford and Kevin Radford of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Robert Franklin Gardin, Mandy Marie Morris, Rebecca Claire Fant, and Rachel Laine Fant; sisters, Pat Cantrell, Mary Wix, and Trudy Conner; brothers, Ray Norton, Roger Norton, and Thomas Norton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at 1:00PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Georgia with Rev. Kenneth Hennesy and Rev. Thomas Norton officiating. Interment will follow in Shadow Lawn Cemetery in LaGrange, Georgia at 4:00PM on Wednesday. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Tuesday, April 17, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
