Mr. Robert Melton Leverette, 77, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away March 11, 2006 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. He was born September 9, 1928 in Columbus, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Samuel Preston Leverette and the late Mrs. Grace Evelyn Long Leverette. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gatha Barrett Leverette and sisters, Mary Willy Kestner and Ruth Rector. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and in the Korean Conflict as a Finance Officer. He attended Boys High in Atlanta and Marietta High and earned a B.B.A. degree from the University of Georgia. He was a longtime member of Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church where he was a choir member and served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Leader. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville since 1972. He retired in 1988 as a Corporate Tax Auditor for the State of Georgia Department of Revenue having served for 23 years. Mr. Leverette was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Ledford Leverette of Douglasville; two daughters, Donna Susan Leverette and husband Bernie Waller of Stone Mountain and Wanda Elaine Leverette and husband Ricky Watts of Carrollton; grandchildren, Kris Chaffins, Nikki and husband John Musci, Cody Chaffins, Adam and his wife Misty Watts and Abbie and her husband, John Jackson; great-grandchildren, Ally and Drew Jackson, Maya and Maverick Watts and Thorpe Musci; brothers and sisters-in-law, Samuel Preston Leverette, Jr. and Hazel Porterfield Leverette and Russell Delano Leverette and Jan Bryson Leverette; nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the First Baptist Church of Douglasville with Dr. John Pennington officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
